VCA Animal Hospitals Will Double Your Gift Through December

Now through December 31, each and every dollar you donate to the Arizona Humane Society will be matched up to $50,000, thanks to the generosity of our friends at VCA Animal Hospitals! For the remainder of the month, each gift you give will be doubled to help fund essential programs that save the lives of Arizona’s pets, like Stella.

The precious 5-month-old Labrador Retriever mix was lying in the middle of the road when our Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™ found her. She was barely hanging on and couldn’t bring herself to stand. It was soon discovered that she was suffering from puncture wounds to her neck and hind legs, and one of those legs was also found to be severely broken.

Once rescued by our EAMTs and in the expert care of the Arizona Humane Society’s trauma hospital staff, it was determined that the best option to treat Stella’s broken limb and give her the best quality of life was to amputate. The sweet pup underwent the procedure with bravery and came out on the other side a healthier and happier girl, despite having one less leg.

After weeks of learning how to navigate her new life on three legs with lots of walks and playtime, Stella is an entirely new dog. Not only has she fully recovered, but we couldn’t be happier to report that she has also found her forever family.

It was your year-end donations last year that helped us care for the nearly 22,000 animals that entered our doors this year, and while stories like Stella’s are all too common, your support makes our lifesaving programs possible.
