Project Reachout, AHS’ partner assistance program, is a lifesaving program that transfers in at-risk pets from other animal welfare organizations, including Maricopa County Animal Care and Control, when space on our adoption floors allow.

Due to initiatives like Project Reachout, AHS has undergone one of the most rapid transformational changes in animal welfare in the country, decreasing euthanasia in Maricopa by 83% and saving an additional 130,000 lives. AHS has become a “destination” shelter for at-risk pets due to our innovative and lifesaving behavior and medical programs as well as our Ethical No-Kill Philosophy™.
