Have a Kid Who Loves Animals?
From camps to homeschool programs to our kid-friendly events, we offer a wide variety of virtual and in-person programs for kids/teens aged 6-17. All of our educational animal adventures are designed to inspire compassion towards pets and engage young minds with fun, hands-on activities.
- Birthday Parties
Host an unforgettable birthday party at our Nina Mason Pulliam South Mountain campus, where the birthday child and their guests will experience visits from Animal Teachers, a guided tour of our shelter, an animal-themed craft and activity, and more!
Or we can come to your location!
- Virtual Birthday Shout-Out
Who says a birthday at home can’t be a wild time? With our virtual birthday shout-outs, your child can get a special personalized video from one of our educators with a snake, lizard, ferret, hedgehog or one of our other AHS Animal Teachers!
- Homeschool Programs
Want to add science-based animal education to your homeschool curriculum? Our Animal Ed-Ventures Homeschool program (for ages 8-11) provides interactive sessions to inspire your child’s love of animals and the natural world.
- Humane Teens Volunteer Group
Humane Teens is a unique leadership program for students ages 14–17. Participants will get hands-on experience working with animals and assisting with youth programs while accruing service hours.
- Reading Fur Fun
This beloved program pairs children ages 8–11 with shelter pets so they can practice their reading while providing our pets with enrichment and socialization!
- Scout Programs
We love to host Boy and Girl Scout troops in our shelter for educational activities and live animal interactions. At the end of the program, your scouts will earn their badge and also receive a behind-the-scenes tour of the shelter.
- Youth Camps
We offer a host of day camps during school breaks for youth ages 6–17 who are interested in learning more about animals and animal careers.
- Youth Volunteering from Home
We always need more pet enrichment toys and supplies! Get your young animal lover or education group involved with crafts that you can make at home and donate to our shelter pets.
