Cookie and her Sprinkles are now resting comfortably in AHS’ Mutternity Suites, our specialized unit for dog moms to ensure their safety and comfort throughout the birthing process.

The Arizona Humane Society is excited to announce its first litter of puppies to arrive in the New Year. Introducing Cookie and her Sprinkles, 10 American Pit Bull Terriers born in AHS’ Mutternity Suites overnight on January 8.

Upon examination in our animal trauma hospital, AHS veterinarians discovered she was quite pregnant and admitted her into our Mutternity Suites — a quiet, medically supervised area for pregnant and nursing dogs to give birth and care for their puppies before heading to a Foster Hero’s home.

The adorable family will stay in their Foster Hero’s home until they are 8 weeks old and ready for adoption.

We are currently seeking foster placement for more than 50 pets, including three mamas and their 23 puppies, like Glory and her Fames pictured above. For those interested in becoming a Foster Hero, you can do so by signing up at azhumane.org/foster.
