AHS Volunteer Spotlight
Big Paws up to Jacob!
AHS would like to shine a light on one of our wonderful teen volunteers, Jacob Jimenez!
Jacob has been volunteering with us for only three months but he has already given over 70 hours! He volunteers at our Campus for Compassion and helps with both cats and dogs.
Our Campus for Compassion Adoption’s Specialist Ellie appreciates all of Jacob’s hard work, saying, “He’s very attentive to the needs of animals. He is such a joy to be around and is so polite to everyone he interacts with”. With the hot summer months, it can be difficult to ensure all of the dogs get adequate love and attention as they need to stay in doors for health and safety reasons. Ellie continued to praise Jacob saying, “Even in the hot summer months, he makes sure each dog gets individual attention and play time”.
When Jacob is not playing with the dogs, he spends time snuggling our many adoptable cats and kittens. Not only does he play with them, he also introduces them to potential adopters in hopes of making a love match. Jacob says he love volunteering at AHS because, “I love animals. I feel a connection with them. I feel peaceful when I’m here and I love being able to give back. I was in the foster care system myself and it makes me feel like I’m helping them in a similar way”.
Jacob hopes to pursue a career in animal welfare one day and feels volunteering is a great way to get his foot in the door and get a feel for what it is truly like. Thank you Jacob for dedicating your time to these wonderful pets!
