Prickly Pete’s Rescue
Prickly Pete Rescued, Recovering and Searching for Owner.
This morning, Prickly Pete, a one year old orange and white domestic cat, is recovering after a harrowing experience yesterday afternoon. Arizona Humane Society’s Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™ received a call of a cat stuck in a cactus near 19th Ave. and Cactus.
When Lori Cooper, an AHS’ EAMT arrived on scene, Pete had freed himself from the clutches of the cactus leading to a search and rescue mission. Fortunately, a trail of cactus pods led to Pete who had become stuck in a fence. Pete was rushed to AHS’ Second Chance Animal Hospital™ where AHS veterinarians and vet technicians spent two hours removing spines from Pete’s muzzle, eyelids and mouth. Now recovering in Second Chance, Pete will remain on pain medication and antibiotics to prevent infection.
Throughout Pete’s treatment, AHS will continue to look for Pete’s owner. If an owner does not turn up in 72 hours and Pete is cleared medically, he will go up for adoption at AHS.
