Puppy Locked in Bathroom for Week Survives Off Toilet Water

Written by: Arizona Humane Society

moxxi-etails-2When she was just four months old, Moxxi escaped certain death by drinking toilet water.

The German Shepherd mix puppy had been abandoned in a home and locked in a bathroom for more than a week. She had no food and no clean water. But the determined pup fought for her life by chewing through the toilet seat to access the only source of water available to her.

Moxxi was eventually rescued by our Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™ with help from the Phoenix Police Department and rushed to our Second Chance Animal Hospital™. Our veterinarians treated and nursed the severely emaciated pup back to health over the course of several weeks, and Moxxi is now thriving in a new loving home.

Moxxi is just one of the many abused and abandoned animals rescued by our EAMTs every year. In recognition of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month in April, check out this ABC15 video segment featuring our EAMTs and the Phoenix Police Department for tips on how you can help pets like Moxxi if you witness animal cruelty.
