Chance Gets a Second Chance Thanks to Puppy Parvo ICU

Lethargic, infested with ticks and suffering from a dangerously low body temperature, 5-month-old Chance was found as a stray by our Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™ in critical condition. The Boxer puppy was brought to our Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital™, where our medical team discovered he had both parvovirus and tick fever.

Parvovirus, also known as parvo, is a highly contagious, often fatal, viral disease in puppies and unvaccinated adult dogs. Parvo has long been considered an untreatable and challenging disease for animal shelters throughout the country. But the Arizona Humane Society is changing that thanks to our new Parvo Puppy ICU, a parvo treatment center that gives homeless pets like Chance a second chance.

Chance was placed on medication and IV fluids in our Puppy Parvo ICU. After several days of treatment, he began to eat, drink and become more alert.

Chance is now recovering in a foster hero home until he is ready to go to his forever home.
