New Stray Cat Resource, SoManyCats.org

Thousands of calls and emails for help regarding Maricopa County’s outdoor cats come into Valley animal welfare agencies every year. That is not surprising considering that it is estimated that there may be more than 250,000 outdoor cats in Maricopa County. That’s so many cats that some of you want to help, while others are driven crazy by the vast numbers on our streets.

Often times, there is not just one option for how to address these situations, which include outdoor cat colonies and kittens being born in a backyard or those who appeared abandoned by their mothers, as all are unique. But regardless of how you feel about outdoor cats, there is finally a comprehensive resource available that offers a variety of tips and resources regardless of the situation, courtesy of Fix.Adopt.Save.

In celebration of Outdoor Cat Month, we invite you to visit somanycats.org for information on caring for kittens, Trap-Neuter-Return programs, tips on how to best handle disputes that may arise with neighbors regarding outdoor cats and deterrents to help keep cats out of your yard. And remember October is the best time of year to spay/neuter outdoor cats!

We can’t solve this overpopulation crisis overnight. But through spay/neuter efforts, education, resources and community partnerships, we can all work together to find a solution. Please help spread the word!
