Local PEEP Program Earns National Recognition

Written by: Arizona Humane Society

Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Club of Apache Junction, which received a Merit award from the National Boys and Girls Clubs of America for their collaboration with AHS’ Humane Education Department’s Peer Education Enrichment Program (PEEP).

The Apache Junction group received $500 and a certificate after placing second out of more than 150 entries from across the country, and is now in the running for a national Honor Award. The group also recently won a local Program Excellence Award, placing first out of 12 competing East Valley Clubs.

AHS’ PEEP program gives senior students the opportunity to present a humane education program to younger students, scouts or club members in their school or a sister school, helping to inspire compassion and respect for animals at a young age. For more information about PEEP or any of our humane education programs, email education@azhumane.org or call (602) 997-7586 x1015.
