Dogs Rescued in Alabama Cruelty Case Start New Lives in Phoenix

Written by: Arizona Humane Society

The Humane Society of the United States transported 23 rescued dogs from Alabama to Arizona, arriving at the Arizona Humane Society (AHS) in mid-August. Several of those dogs are now available for adoption and ready to find loving homes.

More than 60 dogs were rescued from an Alabama property in January after local authorities determined that they were so emaciated and ill that they needed immediate attention. The dogs have been in the care of The HSUS at a temporary shelter where they received much-needed food, water, veterinary care and TLC. View the amazing rescue footage here.

The dogs, who are Dogo Argentinos, continue to receive medical and behavioral care at AHS to get them ready for adoption. PetSmart Charities provided necessary supplies and enrichment items for this case. The investigation and court proceedings remain ongoing.

The transfer is part of the Humane Society of the United States’ Emergency Services Placement Partners program of which AHS is a partner.
