Cat Tossed In Dumpster Given Second Chance At Life

Written by: Arizona Humane Society

Tori 006Tori has spent much of her life surviving a battle that she came close to losing before she was rescued by AHS’ Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™. Found amongst garbage in a grocery store dumpster, Tori could have easily suffocated had an employee taking out the trash not heard meowing coming from a black garbage bag. Sadly, it was too late for Tori’s newborn kittens, who had already perished from the extreme heat and lack of oxygen.

Dehydrated, exhausted and running a high temperature, Tori was desperately in need of medical care as the EAMT ambulance raced back to the shelter. AHS veterinarians greeted the ambulance at the curb and transferred the Tortie to a triage kennel, where they began administering fluids in order to stabilize the 1-year-old kitty who suffered from an extreme case of heat stress.

Weeks later, Tori is now fully recovered, thriving and just one of thousands of homeless animals who have been given a second chance at a good life.

Every day, the Arizona Humane Society takes in an average of 121 animals just like Tori who rely on us for care, love and a second chance. In return, AHS relies solely on our community’s support to give these pets the happy ending they deserve.

You can make a difference in the life of an animal like Tori by joining our Project 121 Online Movement. Compassionate animal lovers like yourself have already raised more than $19,000 in support of Tori and all of her shelter friends, but we need your help to reach our goal of $50,000.
