Arizona Gives Day 2017: Help Pets Like Ruger

Written by: Arizona Humane Society

Ruger Had Been Left for Dead in the Yard of a Phoenix Home.

It was a warm spring day when our Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™ arrived at a home in Phoenix. In the front yard, lay a bloody Pit Bull, flies buzzing around fresh bite wounds scattered across his body, the apparent victim of dog fighting. Around back, was a Maltese, sitting in shattered glass on the floorboard of a vehicle, shaking in fear.

It was a heartbreaking scene that we were able to capture during the filming of our Animal Cops Phoenix TV series.

Thankfully, the story of Ruger the Pit Bull and Sully the Maltese ended on a happy note with both finding loving homes. But, sadly, every year, our EAMTs respond to more than 6,000 cruelty cases just like theirs to rescue injured, abused and neglected animals who need our help.

Tuesday, on Arizona Gives Day – a grassroots, statewide single day of giving that invites Arizonans to donate to their favorite causes – you can help support our EAMTs, Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital™ and other lifesaving programs by making a gift at our Arizona Gives Day website. When you pre-schedule your gift today, you will be providing critical care and helping to save the lives of other sick, injured, and abused animals, just like Ruger and Sully.

Watch the video below to see what a transformation Ruger, now named Booger, has made, and how he spends his days with his furever family.

To see more emotional and triumphant rescue stories like these, be sure to tune in to Animal Cops Phoenix Sunday mornings on Animal Planet (check your local listings for start time).

Thank you for supporting our pets on Arizona Gives Day and making a difference for homeless animals like Ruger and Sully. Please be sure to share their story with your friends, family and coworkers and ask them join you in making a gift and giving second chances to homeless pets. If AHS finishes the day among the top three fundraising organizations, we can win an additional $10,000 to help even more pets like Ruger and Sully with nowhere else to turn.
