Introducing AHS' Newest Youth Education Program, Animal Ed-Ventures Homeschool!

Animal Ed-Ventures Homeschool is a program developed for homeschool youth (ages 8-11) that incorporates humane education with STEAM concepts that are aligned with Arizona State standards. These interactive, science-focused education programs will inspire compassion and empathy towards animals and benefit the pets and people of our community. Animal Ed-Ventures Homeschool programs are held at AHS’ Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion (1521 W. Dobbins Road, Phoenix, AZ 85041) location the first and third Wednesday of each month. Each program is 1.5 hours and introduces a specific theme each month. We will be following CDC guidelines and all attendees will be required to wear masks. To protect the health of your family and our staff, we will maintain social distancing and instructors will also be temperature tested prior to the start of the program. Each program will allow five participants, who can be accompanied by one adult guardian each or can be picked up following the program. Only the paid participant may attend with one optional adult. Unpaid siblings and additional guests will not be permitted to stay.
  • November - Ecosystems: Discover the amazing animal adaptations that exist in our own backyards and beyond! Participants will explore the wild world of food webs as they learn all about our desert ecosystem and gain new skills to help them live alongside wildlife. They’ll even create their own experimental ecosystem with their very own take-home terrarium!
  • December - Animal Doctors: Explore the ins and outs of what it takes to keep our pets happy and healthy. Our Jr. Animal Doctors will use mock animal medical examinations to learn how to collect and measure heart rates, temperatures, weights, and more! We’ll also examine ways we can improve the lives of pets by focusing on their mental health!
  • January - Dogs with Jobs: What do you want to be when you grow up? A vet? A teacher? An astronaut? Did you know that it’s not just humans who have jobs? Some pets have jobs, too! Just like humans, it can take a lot of work (and studying!) to learn the skills needed to reach your goals. We’ll learn about what types of jobs are out there for pets, and how you can create a job for your pet to do at home.
