Angel Prefers Wheels Over Wings

Angel was found paralyzed and abandoned in the desert. Now, he gets along just fine in his homemade wheelchair.

When you’re a dog, getting through life on two legs can be difficult. So it was with Angel, an ambitious 2-year-old German Shepherd who was found abandoned out by Canyon Lake, dragging his back legs across the rough desert terrain. When he arrived here, the wonderful medical team at AHS’ Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital treated his wounds and determined that Angel was paralyzed from the waist down. wheelchair dog

Being young and curious, Angel was ready to live life to the fullest, but dog wheelchairs are extremely expensive. Thanks to innovative employees from the Animal Care team, Faye and McCall, Angel was fitted with a makeshift wheelchair made of PVC pipe and harnesses, and Angel is now able to effortlessly navigate through life!

See the video below for his first walk with his wheelchair. Everyone marveled at Angel as he wheeled past them with his head held high and an enormous smile on his face!
