The Arizona Humane Society is excited to announce that it will be represented in this year’s Animal Planet Puppy Bowl XIX! 122 puppies from 67 different rescues and shelters across the country will take to the gridiron, and fill the rosters of Team Ruff and Team Fluff, in television’s cutest sporting event on Sunday, February 12th at 2 pm ET/11 am PT on Animal Planet.
Phoenix, a Cairn Terrier mix, will represent Team Fluff on the big day as she shows off her bigger than life personality. Phoenix, six of her siblings, and their mom were brought in by a Good Samarian (pictured right). After spending time in AHS’ Mutternity Suites, a quiet, medically supervised area for pregnant and nursing moms, this adorable litter received lots of love and care in an AHS Foster Hero home until they were old enough to find their forever homes. This sweet girl and her four-legged family are just a few of almost 500 mama dogs and nursing puppies that were cared for in AHS’ Mutternity Suites last year alone.
This is the second time that AHS has been represented in the big game. In 2016, AHS had not one, but two pets represented in a Pup Close & Personal segment during the Puppy Bowl. Roxy, a Chihuahua mix, and her best friend, Oscar, the kitten. Roxy was shy with the cameras and ended up receiving a penalty for being a “wallflower.” The two were eventually adopted together.
Puppy Bowl XIX will start with a pre-game show on Animal Planet and discovery+ at 1:00PM ET/ 10:00AM PT to give audiences the inside scoop on the Puppy Bowl draft with exclusive interviews with coaches and players. In addition to the ear pulls, tail tugs, sloppy kisses, and puppy penalties, this feel-good sports competition will highlight the incredible work of rescue and shelter workers who dedicate their lives to helping animals find their forever homes.
While Phoenix has already found her loving home, the Arizona Humane Society has many deserving pets that are up for adoption. For more information and to see AHS’ adoptable pets.
