Dog Who Nearly Dies In Glue Trap Reunited With Owner

Written by: Arizona Humane Society

MiaRWhen Mia, a 4-pound Chihuahua, found herself stuck to a glue board trap, Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™ from the Arizona Humane Society were summoned to the scene. When EAMTs arrived, Mia had already succumbed to exhaustion and had collapsed face down in the glue and was struggling to breathe with glue lodged in her nasal passage, mouth and eyes. Had she not been rescued in time, she could’ve suffocated and died.

Knowing that simply peeling the trap off of the small dog’s face would cause severe pain and even rip out her fur and/or skin in the process, EAMT, Andy Gallo, tried a more humane approach. He lathered the little dog’s face with peanut butter and the peanut oil loosened the glue’s deadly grip. EAMT Andy was then able to carefully and painlessly remove the trap from Mia’s small body. Mia’s face was cleaned up and groomed in the Second Chance Animal Hospital™. But just before she was about to go up for adoption, Mia’s heartbreaking story took an amazing twist.

Mia’s owner saw her story on the news and immediately recognized her beloved pup. Mia had gone missing about a month earlier and her owner had been searching for her ever since. Mia’s owner arrived at AHS first thing the following morning, bringing photos of Mia to confirm it was her.

When Mia saw her owner, she immediately recognized her and started jumping in her kennel and barking with excitement. She leaped out of the AHS employee’s arms and into her owner’s arms and started kissing her face and licking away her tears of happiness. It was a very happy and emotional reunion. Before the happy family returned home, Mia’s owner made sure to have Mia microchipped before leaving AHS.
