12 News: Lack of Regulation for Animal Welfare in Arizona
News Highlights:
- The Arizona Humane Society's Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™ and Animal Cruelty Investigators save sick and injured pets and partner with law enforcement to conduct thousands of cruelty investigations each year to seek justice for abused animals. They performed 7,773 cruelty investigations last year.
- In 2019, AHS' EAMTs responded to 77 cases in which 10 or more animals were seized, a total of 1,880 animals.
- Some of these cases involve rescue organizations that do not provide proper veterinary treatment, and/or house pets in unsanitary conditions. There are no current regulations in the state of Arizona for rescue organizations.
