Add a little color to your life with Crimson! This Add a little color to your life with Crimson! This handsome Australian Cattle Dog/ Akita mix is looking for a home of his own. Crimson was found as a stray so his history before he came to AHS is a bit of a mystery. But we know this boy learned his manners from somebody along the way. He is already potty-trained and leash trained! Crimson is 4 years old. He would love to find a calm and patient family that will give him the time I needs to adjust to his new home and create a special bond.

Adoptions are available at AHS' Campus for Compassion location by appointment only (this is the only adoption location open right now). Pets available today may not be available by the time of your appointment. If appointments are booked out, our scheduling tool is updated throughout the day to reflect last-minute openings.
Remember Baxter? We shared this special needs Boxe Remember Baxter? We shared this special needs Boxer's story in the hopes of finding him a loving home to enjoy his golden years in.

We knew it would take a special family to give this sweet old dog the ongoing care he needed. When he first came to AHS, he was treated in our Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital™ where it was discovered that he is facing some senior pet ailments, including arthritis, ataxia (periodic wobbliness in the hind) and a few dermal masses.

❤We are overjoyed to share that Baxter has found a the PERFECT home. He even has a new Boxer sibling to cuddle up with. Congratulations Baxter!❤
It's a puppy playdate! Claus and Dixie became fast It's a puppy playdate! Claus and Dixie became fast friends here at AHS. Now they are both looking for loving homes. As you can see they are both goofy and playful. Claus is a 9-month-old Border Collie mix who is as smart as he is energetic. Dixie is a 1-year-old Belgian Malinois/ German Shepherd mix. Dixie can be a little shy when she is meeting new people but having friends like Claus helps bring out her playful, sweet nature.

Improve your child's reading skills while enrichin Improve your child's reading skills while enriching the lives of homeless pets! It's a win-win for kids and pets!

AHS is excited to announce that Reading Fur Fun is back! Join us on Saturday, April 17th for this unique program that gives children ages 8-11 the opportunity to read to our dog friends at our Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion for just $10. This helps students practice reading and teaches important socialization skills to our dogs awaiting adoption.

We will be following CDC guidelines. To ensure safety, all visitors entering AHS property, including buildings and parking lots, are required to wear masks at all times without exception. Instructors will also be temperature tested prior to the start of the program, and all visitors entering an AHS building will be subject to a temperature screening. To protect the health of your family and our staff, we will maintain social distancing during the program.

Congratulations to AHS adoptee, Zeus! ❤ “Zeus Congratulations to AHS adoptee, Zeus! ❤

“Zeus is a very smart cookie,” his new mom Katie said. “He's learned to consistently sit, lay down, shake, stay, and has been sitting down before crossing any street without the need of treats! We are still working on spin and will be attempting to teach him rollover (since he loves being on his back).”

Zeus, formerly Koda, is a 2-year-old Labrador Retriever who came to AHS back in December from @pinalcountyanimalcontrol through Project Reachout. This partner assistance program transfers pets from other animal welfare organizations when space on our adoption floors allows. This is one of the many ways we work with partners to save more lives.

Zeus is living the good life now and is enjoying running with his mom, hiking, making new doggie friends, and chewing on his @kongcompany toys! We could not be happier that this pair found each other ❤️
🐾Double wags for this family!🐾 “Tri-pawed 🐾Double wags for this family!🐾

“Tri-pawed” AHS alum, Harper, spends her days playing, snuggling and napping with her new brother Hudson, also an AHS alum! ❤

Her new mom, Tina, says, “We fell in love instantly! She is full of energy and just wants to please you. Harper and Hudson are already good friends. This has been the easiest transition ever! She fits right in. We are over the moon with our decision to adopt Harper.”

Remember Twitch, the goofy pup from our Easter-Egg Remember Twitch, the goofy pup from our Easter-Egg Hunt video? We have some good news: He’s finally been adopted!

Sweet Twitch had been patiently waiting for his furever family for weeks at AHS before these two with AHS since Valentine's Day, patiently waiting for his furever family. During his time with us, many of our staff have had their hearts won over by this sweet and playful boy, and we couldn’t have been happier when we heard the news! Congratulations Twitch, you deserve this happy ending! ❤
Here at AHS, we love when pets have unique quirks! Here at AHS, we love when pets have unique quirks!🤪

Mr. Big, a five-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat, has some cute quirks himself; he keeps his living space very clean, he loves to perch on high furniture, and maybe best of all, he sings to himself in the mirror! Mr. Big quickly became a staff favorite with his sweet and affectionate demeanor. Now, he is hoping to find his furever home, maybe with someone who is also musically inclined!

The force was certainly strong with Obi when it ca The force was certainly strong with Obi when it came to finding his furever home 💫

When 9-month-old Border Collie, Obi, came to AHS as a stray back in December, it was obvious he wasn’t from the dark side. Obi’s new family tells us that he has been attending doggy Jedi training and recently graduated from his beginner course. Every great Jedi Master has a weakness, though… and Obi’s weakness is belly rubs.

Congratulations to Obi and his new family! May the force be with you always!
How to host a dog-friendly Easter Egg Hunt! 💐 How to host a dog-friendly Easter Egg Hunt! 💐

First, take some plastic Easter eggs and add treats to a few of them, mixing them in with empty eggs. Then, place or hide them around your space and let your dog’s nose get to work! Your pup will sniff out the treats, maybe even learn how to open the eggs, and enjoy some great enrichment and quality time with you! Please make sure to supervise your dog during this activity and do not leave them alone with plastic eggs. Please also be mindful of your pet’s size and use eggs that they cannot easily ingest. For example, dogs who are near Twitch’s size should have jumbo eggs like these.

8-year-old Labrador Retriever mix, Twitch, was the perfect participant for this fun activity! Twitch has found his furver home, but if you are interested in adopting any of our available pets, visit www.azhumane.org/adopt. We are sure to have the perfect pet for every-bunny! 🐰

🚨Wildfire season is almost here and AHS wants m 🚨Wildfire season is almost here and AHS wants make sure all pet owners are prepared.🚨

Whether it be a wildfire, severe storm or an accidental house fire, disaster can strike at any time. When it comes to disaster preparedness, it is important to remember the “Three P’s” – Plan, Prepare and Practice.

When planning for the unexpected, always include your family pets in your survival plans. As a part of this, it is important to make sure your pet is microchipped and wearing a collar with up-to-date ID tags, as well as designating a trusted person to help with your pets in your absence such as a neighbor or friend.

Assembling Disaster Kit Checklist
☑️Food and water
☑️Medication
☑️Leashes, carriers, bowls and blankets
☑️Vet records
☑️Pet first-aid kit
☑️Photo and description of pets

Once your plans are in place and your disaster kit is prepared, allow time for the whole family to practice what to do when a disaster strikes. For example, practice getting your cat into a crate. Often times, cats will go hide and people can lose valuable time trying to track down their feline friends while also struggling to get them into their crate.

If evacuation orders are put into place, it is vital to evacuate as early as possible and to always remember that if it isn’t safe for you, it isn’t safe for your pets! Follow the link in our bio for more information and tips.
