Mother gives birth to pups at AHS’ Mutternity Suites and will be heading to a Foster Heroes home during recovery.

Valentine’s Day arrived early with an extra adorable bundle of cuteness at the AHS as we welcome our first litter of puppies born in-shelter in 2022! Naomi, a one-year-old Labrador retriever mix, gave birth in our Mutternity Suites on February 9 and will be going to an AHS Foster Hero home with her three puppies until they are ready for adoption.

The now six-day-old litter, two girls and one boy, were born after their mom was transferred to AHS through our Project Reachout Program – our partner assistance program that transfers pets from other shelters that need medical care as space on our adoption floor allows. Naomi was in our care for two days before giving birth in our Mutternity Suites.

Naomi Naomi and her pups, whose naming rights are being saved for their future Foster Hero, are just three of more than 1,430 moms and puppies who have been born and cared for in AHS’ Mutternity Suites since it opened at the end of 2017. The small but mighty family will soon head to an AHS Foster Hero home until they are eight weeks of age and ready for adoption.
