Marigold was Found as an Injured Stray, Struggling to Walk
The sweet 8-year-old senior was brought to a local emergency animal hospital by a Good Samaritan and quickly transferred to the Arizona Humane Society’s Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital™ for treatment.
As the largest veterinary hospital of its kind in the entire Southwest, AHS’ Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital™ treats more than 12,000 sick, injured and abused animals a year. Animals like Marigold, an injured stray who was brought by a Good Samaritan to a local emergency animal clinic and transferred to AHS’ trauma hospital. She was struggling to walk, had wounds on her neck, had an umbilical hernia, and was very stressed. The 8-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier was wearing a green collar with the words “Peace, Love, Rescue” printed on it, but unfortunately, her family never came forward.
Marigold was cared for in AHS’ trauma hospital for more than three weeks. Her wounds were cleaned, she was closely monitored for her trouble walking (and later determined to have arthritis), and received much-needed dental work to extract several teeth. Though she was understandably stressed in her early days of treatment, Marigold slowly but surely warmed up to her friends on the AHS Behavior team. With frequent walks at her leisurely pace, daily enrichment activities, and lots of love, Marigold is showing more of her loving personality each and every day.
AHS is committed to saving the lives of vulnerable pets like Marigold, and today your generous gifts can go even farther for the animals. We are excited to share that our partners at VCA Animal Hospitals have agreed to match every single dollar you give up to $20,000 to help support the lifesaving programs at the Arizona Humane Society. Programs like the Bottle Baby Kitten ICU, Kitten Nursey, Parvo Puppy ICU, Mutternity Suites and Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital™ that help save the lives of pets routinely euthanized in shelters. Your gift of $50 will double to $100. And a gift of $100 will become $200 to help care for twice as many pets like Marigold.
Thank you for doubling your impact and helping us continue to serve as a safety net for the Valley’s most vulnerable pets.
