Thanks to AHS' Emergency Medical Animal Technicians™, Gracie is happy, healthy and up for adoption!

An adorable 14-week-old Parson Russell Terrier mix named Gracie needed a helping paw after she wedged her way on top of the rear axle of the undercarriage of a car last week. Thanks to our Emergency Animal Medical Technician™, Dan McGrath, this sweet pup is now available for adoption at our Nina Mason Pulliam South Mountain Campus.

On February 1st, AHS responded to a call of a puppy being chased by two larger dogs near 24th St. and McDowell Rd. in Phoenix. Once on scene, Dan found that the 12-pound pup had wedged herself underneath a car and was too scared to come out. With a bit of coaxing, he was able to free her and transport this sweet, shy girl to AHS’ animal trauma hospital.

Gracie, puppy rescued from car's rear axleIt was determined that Gracie was very shy but otherwise healthy after a thorough medical examination by our skilled veterinarians. Then, after a brief stay with us for further observation, Gracie received her spay surgery and is now ready for her forever home!

This adorable puppy is just one example of the more than 7,400 sick and injured pets rescued by AHS’ EAMT™ program last year alone, and one of nearly 18,000 pets AHS cares for each year.
