AHS’ Pups Create Paw-casso Works of Art

Some of the Arizona Humane Society’s (AHS) longest shelter residents are taking matters into their own paws to get noticed. This past week, with the help of AHS’ volunteer groups, several adoptable dogs created their own Paw-cassos!

The Paw-cassos, originally made as gifts for a special event, were so popular that people asked if they could purchase them. The 150 3”x3” canvas prints were made by putting several canvases covered in paint into large zip lock bags, closing it and then putting peanut butter on top (see Winston’s artistic process above).

Thirteen artists originally took part and now just four are still available for adoption, and all four have waived adoption fees:

• Winston, 6 – is believed to be deaf, but what he lacks in hearing he makes up for in wiggles. Come see how many tennis balls he can carry at once!
• Daisy, 3 – a shy, yet charming girl looking for a home where she can blossom. When she is not painting she is partaking in puzzle toys.
• Creed, 6, belly rubs are a must – after a belly full of treats, of course.
• Shiny, 2, when he’s not sitting around determining what Kong he’s going to lick peanut butter out of next, he is practicing his commands because practice makes perfect for his next family.

All four love to be the center of attention so a home without other pets is preferred and perhaps a reason why they are AHS’ longest residents, but we know that their ideal home is out there somewhere!
