4 Ways to Keep Your New Year’s Resolution While Helping Pets

Written by: Arizona Humane Society
Volunteering at AHS is a great way to keep your New Year's Resolution on track!

With a new year often comes new goals and resolutions to help keep you on track throughout the year. Thanks to a wide array of volunteer opportunities at the Arizona Humane Society, you can give back to homeless pets while also keeping on top of your New Year’s Resolutions!

1. If you resolve to get in shape…
With thousands of dogs that come through the shelter each year, you can keep on top of your fitness goals by volunteering to walk dogs throughout the shelter! From pups who are still on the mend to those who are looking for their forever homes, you can stay in tip top shape while helping dogs get the proper physical activity they need each day.

2. If you resolve to save money…
If saving money is at the top of your goal list, look no further than picking up a few shifts at an AHS Thrift Store location! From gently-used furniture to antiques and name brand items, you can help bring in revenue for homeless pets while having the first look at all the amazing items donated each day.

3. If you resolve to cook more…
Help pets get their daily treats by putting together yummy dishes for them in AHS’ Animal Experience department. Your culinary skills can grow while putting together tasty, pet-friendly delights while pets are in the shelter’s care – helping them stay mentally stimulated and keep their bellies full!

4. If you resolve to learn a new skill…
Thousands of orphaned kittens are cared for in AHS’ Bottle Baby Kitten ICU each year. You can learn new skills while saving the lives of the Arizona Humane Society’s tiniest patients by feeding and weighing them every few hours until they are able to go to a Foster Hero home. The ICU opens in mid-March, however, those interested in this opportunity are still encouraged to apply now ahead of Arizona’s long kitten season just around the corner.

Whether you prefer to work with pets or with people, we need your passion and unique talents. Come join the team voted “Best Place to Volunteer” by Phoenix Magazine!
