A Transformation You Have to See to Believe

Written by: Arizona Humane Society

Few Transformations are as Remarkable as Little Summer Sunshine’s.

This 1-year-old Golden Retriever mix arrived at the Arizona Humane Society after she was found in Phoenix by a Good Samaritan, extremely sick and barely able to even move. Summer Sunshine was taken to AHS’ Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital™, where our veterinarians determined she was suffering from severe demodex, pneumonia, an enlarged heart and a severe heart murmur.

Summer Sunshine spent several weeks being treated in our trauma hospital, always with a toy in her mouth waiting for someone to play with her. She then moved to the home of a Foster Hero to continue her recovery.

After months of medication and special baths, Summer Sunshine’s hair has returned, her heart murmur has lessened, and this vibrant, outgoing girl is nearly ready for her adoption day. Yesterday, you gave thanks for the happiness in you and your family’s life, both two- and four-legged members. Next week is Giving Tuesday and we ask you give hope to homeless and abused animals like Summer Sunshine by making a lifesaving gift.

Giving Tuesday is a national day of giving and the charitable alternative to Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. When you make a gift between now and Tuesday, November 27th, you’re helping to end the suffering of animals in our community. And if you make a donation of $100 or more or sign up for a monthly gift of any amount, our pets will show their appreciation by sending you a free 2019 AHS calendar – the Valley’s cutest calendar!

Thank you for making this season of giving one our pets will never forget.
