CBS 5, ABC 15, & FOX 10: Army Soldier Reunites with Dog after Deployment

Written by: Arizona Humane Society

News Highlights:

  • It’s been a year since Buster, a 5-year-old Chihuahua, last saw his owner, April. She serves in the U.S. Army and was deployed to serve in Kuwait in 2016.
  • When April was called to serve overseas, she was left wondering what would happen to her beloved canine pal. Thankfully, AHS’ Project Active Duty program, supported by PetSmart Charities, provides long-term foster care for those who serve our country, and Buster was placed in a loving foster home with volunteer Linda from Sun Lakes, Arizona.
  • It was a heartwarming and emotional reunion – Buster’s tail wagged with excitement as soon as he saw April and tears were shed.
  • “I’ve missed Buster so much,” April said. “It’s so wonderful to be back home and be greeted with his kisses and unconditional love. He’s the only family I have and I don’t know what I would’ve done without this program.”
