Tempe Puppy Mill OrdinanceThe City of Tempe Passes Puppy Mill Ordinance

On Thursday, February 11th, the City of Tempe passed a commercial pet sales ordinance by a unanimous 7-0 vote. The puppy mill ordinance bans pet stores from selling dogs or cats that were not acquired from an animal shelter, humane society or nonprofit animal rescue organization, thus helping to combat the sale of puppy mill puppies. Tempe becomes the 120th city to pass a commercial pet sales ban.

Thank you to Mayor Mitchell and Tempe Council Members for standing up to puppy mills. And a special thanks to all of those who helped support the ordinance by contacting their local representative or making a public statement at the Council Meeting.
