Sam enjoys chasing balls and giving plenty of love to his new forever family. Owner Jenny shares the 7-year-old Shepherd mix’s story:
One year ago, Sam brought me a tennis ball to the edge of his run and asked me to play. I think he picked us, rather than the other way around. I had thought to adopt a younger dog after losing our dog at age 15, but Sam seems young at heart. I didn’t even notice that he is missing an eye until we took him out of the run for a meet and greet. (He doesn’t seem to miss it, so we just don’t tell him that he’s any different than the other dogs.)
Despite helping himself to an entire platter of turkey the day after Thanksgiving, he has been a wonderful member of the family. He can play fetch all day and even returns the ball to your feet, dropping it for each person in turn, so everyone is included. He has trips to the dog park and lots of toys. He even went on vacation with us this fall and saw llamas, goats, and horses. Thanks to the staff that took such good care of him when he was missing his first family. You make all the difference.
