Ryder Reunites With Phoenix Police, Heads to Foster Home

Monday was an exciting day for both the Arizona Humane Society and Ryder. Our amazing little pit bull entered chapter two of her recovery as she went into foster care. But before she did, she was reunited with the Phoenix Police Officers who rescued her and helped save Ryder’s life.

Ryder enjoyed some play time, lots of pets and plenty of treats from the Officers who couldn’t believe they were interacting with the same dog they found starving, severely emaciated and tied to a door knob nearly a month ago.

Ryder now weighs a healthy 50 pounds, nearly double her weight when she arrived, and her personality has truly opened up. The once shy, fearful pittie is now playful and full of love. Her favorite activities, other than eating, of course, are getting belly rubs and wrestling with her two-legged friends. She gets so excited to play, that sometimes she becomes a little too rambunctious and jumpy, which is something she’ll work on with foster dad Darrell.

Ryder will spend about a month with Darrell, who will help socialize her and continue her strict feeding schedule to ensure she’s healthy when she goes up for adoption. She’ll make weekly visits to AHS while in foster care to check her weight and blood levels.
