Humane Teens

The Arizona Humane Society’s Humane Teens program is a unique youth leadership program for teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17 who are interested in animal welfare.

Becoming a Humane Teen is a special commitment to the Arizona Humane Society that requires 24 hours of service within a school semester. Humane Teens will:

  • Receive training in animal handling skills
  • Help lead youth programs and presentations
  • Assist with the daily care of homeless pets
  • Gain mentorship, leadership and career discovery experience
  • Accrue service hours
Requirements: Must complete an online application that includes a minimum of two letters of recommendation (community leaders or school staff recommended).

Humane Teens Scholarship

Thanks to generous funding received from Thunderbird Charities, Humane Teens who require financial assistance are eligible to receive:

  • Registration fee waived (value of $150.00)
  • A $135.00 stipend available at the end of each semester
  • Meal assistance (lunches during training dates/snacks during regular shifts)
  • Uniform (one t-shirt per semester)
  • Travel allowance (one public bus pass per month, value of $64.00)
  • Community service hours for time spent training or working regularly scheduled shifts)
