Programs for Kids

Education for the Next Generation

The Arizona Humane Society believes it’s never too early to learn about the joy of pets. Our expansive, multidimensional learning model inspires empathy, teaches children compassion and respect for all animals and instills in them the power that each individual has to create positive change for animals.

Kids Camps and Workshops

Our education camps and workshops cover a wide variety of topics and are designed to reach children of all ages. At the Arizona Humane Society, our workshops are designed to equip each attendee with practical tools to better serve animals in their homes, schools and communities.

Read to Our Dogs. They Love It!

Reading time. Little schoolgirl is sitting at the desk and reading with terrier on her lap.

Is your child a passionate animal lover but not quite old enough to volunteer? AHS is now offering Reading Fur Fun, a special reading program that gives children the opportunity to improve their reading skills by enriching the lives of shelter dogs! Each month, children ages 8-11 can sign up to read to our dog friends at our Nina Mason Pullium Campus for Compassion. This helps students practice reading and teaches important socialization skills to our dogs awaiting adoption!

AHS will have a selection of books on hand, but kids are welcome to bring their own.

Reading Fur Fun is offered one Saturday a month at the Nina Mason Pulliam Campus for Compassion. Sign your child up today!
