Jessie's Ear covered in Ticks

Upon Rescue

Jessie covered in Ticks

Our EAMTs™ (Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™) were called upon to investigate a case of animal abuse. A.J. Meadows, the EAMT™ who rescued Jessie, was shocked and horrified at what she saw. The awful facts upon Jessie's rescue:

  • She was only 9 weeks old
  • Covered in more than 1,000 ticks
  • Suffering from severe anemia (from all the blood sucked by the ticks), dehydration and lethargy
  • It took us 4 hours to remove each and every tick from her little body

Jessie in foster care

In Foster Care

Jessie house training

While in recovery, Jessie spent 13 days in a loving foster home. Her foster family were amazed at how gentle and loving she was after what she had been through, and because she is such a large breed. They also report that Jessie:

  • Quickly regained her appetite
  • Loved her toys, was very playful, friendly, and not aggressive at all
  • Adored all people and other animals, has a very sweet disposition
  • Crate trained almost immediately, was an incredibly quick learner, needing very little encouragement, and is near completely house trained

Millie

Jessie with Her New Family

Millie and family

Jessie spent less than 24 hours in the shelter before getting adopted. Her new family renamed her Millie. Millie's new family is thrilled that they adopted Millie and had this to say:

  • Millie is adjusting very well, and is incredibly playful
  • She loves her adopted family's existing dog, also a Mastiff
  • She has plenty of space to run around and play
