Our Stardust Barn animals are looking for new forever homes. Appointments are required to view the horses and take place on weekdays only, except under special circumstances. We ask that appointments set for weekdays be made at least 24 hours in advance and 1 week in advance for weekend appointments. Please note that inquiry forms are required to start the adoption process thus no horse is completely adopted out on the day of the first visit.

Horses
****************************************************************
"Molly"
is a Mustang mare and estimated to have been born in 1989. She is around 14.1hh and 900lbs. Molly was donated in 2001 from the principal of Valley View Elementary School and was one of the first horses to join us here at the Arizona Humane Society.
Molly has an independent attitude that has enabled her to be the alpha horse of our herd. Molly does suffer from joint arthritis and a condition called ringbone causing her to be lame. We offset her conditions with shoeing in 6-week intervals and feeding her a join supplement called Cosequin Optimized with MSM.
Molly can no longer be ridden thus we are recommending she be used as a companion animal. Molly does have experience as a therapy horse using the EAGALA model and has proven to be an extraordinary mare.
Adoption Fee: $300.00 due to medical needs.

"Strawberry"
is a Quarab mix mare and estimated to have been born in 1993. She is around 15.2hh and 1050lbs. Strawberry was confiscated by her previous owner in the fall of 2006 due to severe neglect. Weighing around 650lbs, Strawberry was brought to us with her daughter and three miniature ponies.
The ponies were later adopted out to new families but regrettably, Strawberry’s daughter was euthanized soon after the rescue due to colic. Today, Strawberry is in good health, recovering from the malnutrition and abscesses in her feet but now recovering from an additional injury sustained this past January. She broke a bone in her right hock after being kicked by another horse and it has forced her to be on strict stall rest since.
At present, Strawberry is on her way to a recovery by being walked by volunteers and grazing in our pasture. It’s predicted that Strawberry will recover enough from the injury to have an enjoyable life free from pain but not enough to allow her to be ridden by an adult. We are recommending that Strawberry be used as a companion animal where she can enjoy the rest of her life peacefully and free from worry.

Adoption Fee: $300.00 due to her injuries.
