Saw a pet in the media that you’d like to adopt? Please take a few minutes to review the following guidelines concerning media pet adoptions.
· The primary adopter must be present to enter the drawing. You may not adopt an animal for a friend, relative or anyone else.
· If more than one person is interested in an animal, we will distribute one ticket per person or family. Three tickets will be drawn by each animal.
· The person holding the first-drawn ticket is not guaranteed adoption. Instead, the first-drawn ticket holder has the first opportunity to participate in the adoption prescreening and qualification process. All prospective adopters MUST adhere to our application process and qualify under our usual and customary procedures.
All prospective adopters must . . .
· Be 18 years of age or older, provide a valid photo I.D. and proof of current address
· Obtain landlord consent (copy of your rental agreement or consent by telephone)
· Complete an AHS Adoption Application & Questionnaire
· Meet the animal’s adoption criteria as noted in the animal’s record
· Take part in a one-on-one meeting with an AHS adoption counselor
We reserve the right to decline any adoption if it is not in the best interest of the person/family or animals. The goal of our adoption process is to ensure an appropriate match that will provide a permanent, loving home for every adoptable animal.
The pet you saw on TV, online or in the paper might have been adopted by the time you visit the shelter. But we have dozens more wonderful pets who also need loving homes.
