Despite aggressive treatment by AHS vets, dog passes away; now subject of cruelty investigation
(PHOENIX) – On Saturday, August 21, the Arizona Humane Society received a medical transfer of an approximately seven-year-old Cocker spaniel who had been surrendered by his owners to another animal welfare organization in extremely poor body condition. Immediately AHS veterinarians began aggressive diagnostics and therapy. Despite all our efforts, the dog succumbed to his poor condition.
Because of the animal’s extreme condition, Arizona Humane Society’s Field Operations Department opened an investigation into possible animal cruelty and is currently working with Scottsdale Police Department. A necropsy is being performed to assist the investigations and we are waiting on the results. Because the investigation is ongoing, no further details can be released at this time.
If anyone sees or suspects animal cruelty or abuse taking place, please call AHS’ Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™ at (602) 997-7585, ext. 2073.
