The Arizona Humane Society is deeply saddened by the unexpected loss of employee Sheila Lampert. Lampert began working at AHS in 1999, upon graduating as a veterinary technician. She worked in the organization’s Second Chance Animal Hospital™ for many years and then moved into the alternative placement department, where she had a passion for fostering kittens and dogs back to health. In recent years, Sheila returned to Second Chance where she again worked as a veterinary technician.
"Sheila was a valued employee of the Arizona Humane Society, always willing and happy to do what she could on behalf of the animals. We will miss her warm and caring nurture, and the animals in our care have certainly lost a compassionate champion," said Guy Collison, executive director of the AHS. "In the wake of this tragedy, we decided to close our Sunnyslope Facility for the day to allow our staff members the opportunity to deal with the grieving process."
"We are relieved that police have apprehended the suspect in the tragic deaths of Sheila Lampert and her grandson Loggan. Today, our employees continue to grieve the loss of a dear friend, whose motto in life was to ‘love them all.’"
