Arizona Humane Society's weekly show on 3TV is longest running locally produced show in Arizona
Pets on Parade, the Arizona Humane Society's weekly television show that features a parade of pets who need new homes is celebrating 50 years on the air with KTVK-3TV in a special episode highlighting three of the show's most memorable success stories. Arizona's longest running, locally produced show is seeking Anniversary Pet "Tales" from viewers, past and present, who have adopted through Pets on Parade.
"In the age of the Internet and on-demand programming, being on the air for 50 years is truly an occasion to celebrate," said Guy Collison, executive director of the Arizona Humane Society. "We have a deep gratitude for KTVK-3TV for helping us feature tens of thousands of homeless pets and finding them good homes."
The special episode will air on August 1, and include a celebratory appearance by Marge Wright, the face of Pets on Parade for most of its 50 years. Submissions, including a photo of the beloved pet, can be made online at petsonparade.azhumane.org. Deadline is Friday, July 24. "Tales" chosen for the show will be featured, along with the pets' owners. "Tales" not selected may be featured on the nonprofit's Web site, in a future eTails email newsletter or even in its print newsletter, Paw Prints.
"Over the past 50 years, we have heard some great stories about how these dogs, cats and critters featured on the show have become such vital parts of their families," said Collison. "It's these stories that have made this show the long-running success it is."
