Avery, the 10-Year-Old Blind German Shepherd Mix, Came to AHS with a Plethora of Medical Problems.

Avery was morbidly obese, had glaucoma, and was blind, which lead to AHS’ vets performing eye-removal surgery.

This was only the beginning of Avery’s medical problems. After being placed in a loving Foster Hero home, test further revealed that she also had Valley Fever, pneumonia, and issues with her gall bladder that required medication. However, once her painful eyes were removed and she began treatment, she began to feel much better!

Avery was featured on AHS’ weekly segment with ABC 15, Sunday Sweetheart, to introduce her and her bright spirit to pet lovers across the Valley. As you can probably guess, she was an instant star! It was because of this segment that many people called AHS to further discuss Avery’s needs and ongoing care.

Within just a few days, Avery was on her way home to a loving mom and two Bassett Hound senior siblings!
