Hope Gets Just What She Was Looking For… Hope.

Written by: Arizona Humane Society

Hope Had Lived in Shelters for Nearly Three of her Three and a Half Years of Life.

Hope came to AHS after a local rescue closed its doors and transferred pets to other animal welfare organizations. While we took in a number of pets who eventually found their furever homes, Hope had been overlooked for far too long.

We assume that potential adopters overlooked this sweet girl because of her ongoing struggle with hair loss. While Hope made tremendous strides in our care, it is unknown if she will ever grow a full coat. We think she is beautiful in her own way and it was time she saw the pretty lady we did.

To boost Hope’s confidence, we gave her the ultimate spa treatment – a relaxing massage given by AHS team member Patty (who is certified in small animal massage therapy!), a bubble bath, blueberry facial and pawdicure from Puff & Fluff – Uptown, and a yummy Starbucks Puppuccino! As you can see, this was all she needed to put some pep in her step!

We shared Hope’s “girl’s day out” video on Facebook and she suddenly had a lot of friends on her side, wishing her the best and sharing her story. She even received a gift in the mail from an anonymous friend – someone sent her a box of bones, toys, and treats! Some of Hope’s friends at AHS even styled her in a new outfit to get her noticed, and to help people see past her hair loss. Still, for months, we were sad to see her in her kennel each day just waiting for her furever family.

Finally, there was hope for Hope – Mary Lou and her husband had their eye on sweet Hope for quite a while and called about her multiple times while they had been out of town. The timing was perfect and they made Hope part of their family when they returned! They promise to update Hope’s wardrobe each season, play with her in their backyard, and take her swimming in their pool when it warms up.

There are countless pets like Hope who have been overlooked, but are still worthy of living their happily ever after! If you can open your home to a pet in need, please remember that beauty is only fur deep.

Adopt!
