It was a touching Project Active Duty reunion when Army Specialist Perry and his 2-year-old German Shepherd Zeus were reunited after 15 long months apart.

When Perry, an Army Specialist, received news that he was being deployed overseas for more than a year’s time, he turned to AHS for help. active duty reunion

Unable to take Zeus with him, Perry contacted AHS and was informed of our Project Active Duty program. AHS’ Project Active Duty program partners with PetSmart Charities to care for and protect the animals of those who are protecting us around the world. This program allows loving pet owners leaving for a tour of duty to entrust their pets to AHS, providing not only peace of mind during their deployment, but comfort knowing that when they return, their pet will be waiting for them.

Zeus was fortunate to have AHS Foster Heroes, Annie and Roxanne, care for him while his dad was away. After serving 15 months overseas in Kuwait and Iraq, Perry returned home to a very well-cared for, but eager pup.

It was a bitter-sweet moment for Annie and Roxanne as Zeus has become a part of their family over the past 15 months. Although they will miss Zeus dearly, Annie and Roxanne were very excited for him to be reunited with his dad.
