AHS’ Project Active Duty program partners with PetSmart Charities and Credit Union West to care for and protect the animals of those who are protecting us around the world. Launched as a response to the September 11th attacks, AHS started Project Active Duty as a way to give back to the brave men and women serving our country. This program allows loving pet owners leaving for a tour of duty to entrust their pets with AHS, providing not only peace of mind during their deployment, but comfort knowing that when they return, their pet will be waiting for them.

Lucy and Leila spent just under a year in the home of an AHS Foster Hero through our Project Active Duty program. The dogs were overjoyed to be reunited with their owner who was serving overseas in the military.

Kelly’s owner has been deployed in the military so the Beagle will reside in a Project Active Duty Foster Hero’s home and eagerly wait her owner’s return in June of 2018.
