Microchip Helps Reunite Missing Dog After One Year

One year after going missing, a microchip brought Wobbles back home.

Wobbles, an 8-year-old Shih Tzu, was found hit by a car on July 26th. A Good Samaritan contacted AHS’ Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™, who brought Wobbles back to our Second Chance Animal Hospital™, where he was treated for injuries, including a fractured pelvis.

During our examination of Wobbles, we were lucky enough to find a microchip that AHS’ Alternative Placement team traced back to owner Vanessa – a Valley resident who was in California at the time. Vanessa was thrilled to hear her long-lost pooch had turned up at AHS after disappearing a year ago, and didn’t want to spend one more minute without him. Vanessa cut her California trip short and came back the very next day to reunite with her little Wobbles.

Wobbles’ story is a reminder of the importance of microchipping your pet. Studies show that dogs who go missing and are microchipped are more than twice as likely to find their way back home than dogs who are not, and the return-to-owner rate for missing cats is even higher.
